Passive Solar Plans for Our Homestead Greenhouse
This fall we designed our passive solar greenhouse and focused our energy on its construction until winter weather set in. We've had countless hours of assistance from family and friends who have shared both their knowledge and time helping us get our homestead started.
Our passive solar greenhouse is not your typical greenhouse. It is stick frame construction on a concrete pad with south facing windows and clerestory. It is designed to be energy efficient, absorbing heat in the winter and staying cool in the summer. We will be monitoring its passive heating and cooling qualities and will incorporate our findings into plans for our future house.
All in all we are most excited to be building on our land!
