Homestead Plans - Drilling a Well and Land Survey
We're making plans to move up the hill! There are so many different aspects to this project that have to be considered. In the last few weeks we've gotten two major projects rolling. First, we're making plans to have our fresh water well drilled. We've filed an NOI (Notice of Intent to Drill a Well) with the state, requesting a permit to drill. We've also found a drilling company who has agreed to do the work, and now that we've delivered a deposit - we are on schedule to have a well drilled by the end of this year. We are very excited!
Also, we've secured a engineering firm to officially survey our property next month. Even though we performed our own survey, the county refused to accept the documents we prepared. In order to split our 2.25 acre parcel from the 30 acres owned by Troy and Phaedra, we are required by a new law to have all 30 acres surveyed by a certified surveyor - this is going to cost us about $1600! Once the survey is complete we can then apply to county to have our parcel split off and finalize ownership.
We're also on the lookout for a single wide manufactured home that we can remodel and we are making arrangements to have our septic system installed. After months of anticipation, the building of our homestead is well underway!
We'll be sure to keep you posted as we move forward.
